Difference between traincascade software on 2.4 and 3.0 branch (Bug #4138)

Description
Since updates from 2.4 are not pushed anymore automatically to the 3.0 branch difference between both setups exists.

This results in bugs being fixed in one branch but still residing in the other or even that the 3.0 allows to select the amount of threads where the 2.4 interface doesnt.
I think the reason for this is that it was deleted in master branch and subsequently readded. Is it possible that this was an old version?
