Description

I am trying to use OpenCV on Windows 7 64-bit for development of C/C++ Motion Detection Applications. However, the moment I try to do anything with either Make/Install/Build OpenCV stuff, my machine becomes phenomenally slow. I have Core i5, L3 cache, 8 GB RAM, and 500 GB Hard Drive spec. to actually withstand any memory-wise expensive application. Whenever I try to use OpenCV in my applications, everything just slowly dies. I cannot use a browser, cannot open file explorer, cannot open System Property Window, nothing! I have raised a question here http://answers.opencv.org/question/3996/cannot-do-anything-with-opencv-anymore-on-windows/

I think OpenCV is messing up with the System32 .dll or something that is core to Windows 7 operation. I can confirm that it is an OpenCV problem because I tried it with Eclipse, CodeBlocks, Dev C++, etc. and same result. Also, I have even a more powerful spec. machine at workplace with Windows XP 32-bit OS but OpenCV is fine there with Visual Studio 2010 (or other IDEs and native compilers). However, in WIndows 7 64-bit (which is my development platform), As soon as OpenCV is used, DEAD goes everything! I am urging the developers in the humblest possible way to investigate what is wrong. I have raised a question on MSDN but even they are failing to find a clue! And please don't point me towards the usual installation guidelines because if you follow http://answers.opencv.org/question/3996/cannot-do-anything-with-opencv-anymore-on-windows/ You will know that I have exhausted everything!

Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 installation causes trouble in WIndows PC which cannot be seen until the PC is slowed down during further installation of updates from Microsoft, or doing C/C++ development in IDEs etc...The problem was masked out by the usage of OpenCV. Sorry that it is an off topic and not a bug of OpenCV...Cheers...

my guess is that you are doing something wrong. If it was a problem with OpenCV indeed, we'd already get 1000's of such bug reports, but we get none.
